Adventure & Construction kick-off

Bertrand Piccard and Raphaël Dinelli unveil the Climate Impulse project.

Construction begins in France, led by 49 Sud, to build key components like the two-seater cockpit with support from various technical partners.

2025
Airplane parts in the making

A twin-fuselage design with two large liquid hydrogen tanks and a central cockpit. Lightweight composites and ultra-insulated tanks are crafted with advanced techniques, ensuring strength and resilience.

2026
Flight approval

Permit to fly secured, test flights begin, ensuring regulatory compliance and evaluating the airplane’s performance and safety in real conditions.

2027
Endurance test flights

These flights will test the pilots limits under real conditions and identify potential technical issues before mission flights.

2028
First non-stop zero-emission flight around the world

Final training flights for the Round the World Record. Bertrand Piccard and Raphael Dinelli will validate the final long-duration airplane configuration.

Climate Impulse will attempt to cover the 40'000 km of a circumnavigation in 9 days, flying between the Equator and the Northern Tropic at an altitude of 3'000m.
