Project Milestones

Climate Impulse wants to showcase concrete technologies that can revolutionise the aviation industry, and the mobility sector in general. The Project Milestones will guide us throughout the next 4 years.

2024

  • February 7th / Adventure announcement

Bertrand Piccard and Raphaël Dinelli unveil Climate Impulse, a new flagship for climate action: flying non-stop around the world in a green hydrogen-powered airplane. Syensqo joins as the first main partner.

  • Construction begins

The journey that is the airplane’s construction begins. The initial phase involves crafting pivotal components such as the cockpit. 49Sud and Raphaël Dinelli are responsible for the design and assembly of the aircraft, happening in Les Sables D’Olonne, France. This phase sees a multitude of technical partners bringing their own unique skills and expertise to the table.

    Aircraft parts manufactured

Blends advanced technology with skilled craftsmanship to create durable components crucial for aviation. Engineers use precision machining and additive manufacturing, ensuring lightweight yet robust solutions. Stringent quality control and ongoing innovation prioritize safety, reliability, and efficiency.

    Aircraft parts assembly

Transitioning from meticulous manufacturing, our project advances to the crucial phase of aircraft parts assembly. Skilled hands orchestrate the integration, ensuring precision alignment and rigorous quality checks for airworthy completion.

    Permit to fly

Securing permissions is crucial step in our aircraft project, making our dream a reality. Rigorous inspections and adherence to aviation regulations precede this important milestone, affirming the aircraft's readiness for safe and authorised operation in the skies.

    First test flights

Test flights are always key. Pilots take to the skies for the very first time, learning the inner workings of the craft in real conditions, evaluating performance and safety. These critical trials validate the success of our construction process and mark a game-changing accomplishment.
