Syensqo - Advancing Humanity
As a company founded on the belief that science can be a force for good, Syensqo is a natural partner for the Climate Impulse project. Creating breakthroughs that advance humanity is part of the Group’s DNA.
The legacy of the company’s collaboration with Auguste Piccard’s historic stratospheric flight in 1927 and then with his grandson Bertrand Piccard’s Solar Impulse round-the-world solar flight from 2004 only reinforces a bond that stems from a simple shared ambition: to invent tomorrow's sustainable world.
A fully hydrogen-powered aircraft such as Climate Impulse that can fly non-stop around the world has never existed. But Syensqo firmly believes all the technological solutions needed are already there in its extensive portfolio.
There will be two main applications for Syensqo’s materials in the Climate Impulse aircraft. First and foremost, our composite materials will be crucial to make up the structure of Climate Impulse, from fuselage to wings and hydrogen tanks. As for green hydrogen, our high-performance materials will be key enablers for exceptionally high-power density, and to allow a more compact design of the plane. We will be working together in a mindset of collaboration and open innovation, opening the doors to our state-of-the-art labs to test and characterize materials and produce prototypes.
A challenge such as Climate Impulse can only be made possible by cutting-edge technological know-how and expertise, and Syensqo is proud to bring just that to the table, to make this endeavor a reality and usher in a paradigm shift for the entire aviation industry.
